If you
want to create a hands-free environment in your car so you can drive
safely while talking on the phone, you will need a few accessories.
As the laws pertaining to driving while talking on the phone have
become more strict, investing in equipment that allows you to drive
with both hands on the steering wheel and your eyes always on the
road is a good idea, especially if you are unfamiliar with these new
laws or you travel often for business and want to ensure your own
safety.
HANDS-FREE DEVICES
In
order to create a hands-free environment, you will need to purchase
a hands-free rear view mirror device that attaches easily to your
rear view mirror. After installation, you will be able to use
different devices that are Bluetooth compatible. With easy to reach
buttons, you won’t become distracted when driving.
You can
take this device when traveling and use it in any rental car.
While
there are Bluetooth car kits available, they will need to be
installed, which can be expensive. Rear view mirror devices are
affordable and much easier to install. Many newer model cars are
equipped with Bluetooth also.
Bluetooth allows two or more devices to synch together to share
information. This means that with a hands-free device in your car,
you will be able to dial phone numbers that are stored in your phone
or answer calls by pushing a button. You can also use voice
activated dialing if your cell phone has this feature.
Rear
view mirror devices are equipped with speakers and a microphone
allows you to be heard and hear others clearly. With an FM
frequency transmitter, you can also route the sound through your
stereo.
CELL
PHONES
Older
cell phones may not be compatible with Bluetooth, so you may need to
invest in a new phone.
Since
Bluetooth is only effective up to 30 feet, you will be able to leave
your phone in your briefcase or bag when making or receiving phone
calls. This allows you to concentrate on driving your vehicle
instead of having to look for your phone when it rings.
Also,
you will not have to plug your phone into a cigarette lighter or
into the hands-free device in order to use it.
PHONE
CALL FEATURES
Caller-ID, automatic redial, and the ability to answer or reject
phone calls is very easy by pushing one button on the device. This
device features an LED screen that allows you to see incoming calls
day or night.
ADDITIONAL ACCESSORIES
Other
devices that can be used with a hands-free device include:
-
PDA’s
-
iPods, MP3 players
-
Headsets
These
accessories can make listening to music downloads or taking a
personal phone call when others are in the car with you possible.
All of these accessories can be purchased separately.
As you
can see, you don’t need too many accessories to create a hands-free
environment in your car. Depending on your needs, you can use your
device to talk on the phone, listen to music, or just to notify you
when a phone call comes in.
