When
driving, it is important to keep your attention focused on the road.
While most people feel they can multi-task as they drive by making
and receiving phone calls, talking to other passengers, or listening
to the radio, the truth is that it only takes seconds to become
involved in an accident.
Reducing the number of distractions when driving is important and
has become the basis for many new driving laws that involve talking
on cell phones and driving. For many, cradling their phone between
their head and shoulder or driving with one hand has become normal
driving behavior. But unfortunately, driving this way has led to
many accidents that could have been avoided. This is why laws have
been put into place to ban cell phone usage in the car unless a
hands-free device is used.
DRIVING
SAFELY WITH BLUETOOTH
If you
live in a region that has created such a ban, investing in Bluetooth
technology will allow you to make and receive calls without
compromising your safety. Bluetooth devices can pick up call phone
signals from cell phones that are Bluetooth compatible (most new
models are) and allow you to use your phone without having to touch
it. The Bluetooth rear view mirror device, for example, is equipped
with speakers and a microphone so you can talk while driving.
Voice
activated calling is another option if you have a cell phone with
these capabilities. You can program in any phone number and make a
call without your hands leaving the steering wheel.
Rear
view mirror devices can be easily attached to any rear view mirror
and are great for those who travel because they can be used in
rental cars as well.
STAY
COMFORTABLE WHILE DRIVING
Prolonged conversations on a cell phone can become very
uncomfortable when driving. Because you have to position your neck,
shoulders, and back in fixed positions, you can develop cramps,
spasms, or other injuries that can have lasting effects.
Even
cell phones with built-in speakers are difficult to use when driving
because the sound quality isn’t the greatest. You may have to repeat
yourself several times which can become frustrating, especially when
conducting a business call.
With
hands-free devices, you will not have to worry about being heard or
missing important information. You have the option of routing calls
through your stereo system using the FM frequency transmitter, which
is very easy to connect.
Staying
comfortable when traveling long distances is important to your
health and well-being. With Bluetooth, you can make and receive
phone calls without having to change your posture or adjusting your
seat to support your body while driving.
ADDITIONAL FEATURES
Other
features you will find on most hands-free devices include:
-
The ability to use other Bluetooth devices
including iPods and MP3 players
-
The ability to use a headset for added privacy
-
Caller ID, automatic redial, and reject call
options
-
LED screen that lights up incoming calls
These
features make using your hands-free device even easier. Taking
advantage of this technology is the best way to enjoy the freedom of
talking while driving, but being safe at the same time.
